Turn and Face the Strange tells the story of Hull born Mick Ronson, who played alongside David Bowie as one of the Spiders from Mars, and became a world-famous guitarist, song arranger and album producer.

The cult hit-show features a string quartet of classically trained musicians and a stellar line-up of rock musicians who played with Mick Ronson and David Bowie, including Keith ‘Ched’ Cheesman (The Rats) and John Cambridge (The Rats & The Hype). They offer unique insights and personal stories of their friendship with Mick and sharing a stage with him.
Turn and Face the Strange takes the audience on a stunning sound and light trip through the music of Mick Ronson, from the sixties through the glam-rock years with Bowie, and beyond.
Show Trailer – 2017 Freedom Centre
The show was commissioned by Hull City of Culture 2017 and premiered that year at the Freedom Centre Hull, close to where Mick Ronson grew up. The show transferred to Hull Truck Theatre and has continued its tradition of playing to sell-out audiences from 2018 to 2021. It has attracted visitors to the city from Scandinavia, Japan, Australia and the United States.
